Water damage and subsequent mould growth can have lasting impacts to not only the health of occupants but also on the building structure itself, and these risks are amplified when corrective actions are delayed or if the source of the problem remains undiscovered for months or longer.
It is unfortunately too common for mould remediation projects to run over time or expand to include costly additional site attendances and further works. Our panel of Indoor Environmental Professionals (IEP) draws from decades of industry experience to identify the key factors common to successful remediation projects, and outline how an IEP can assist in ensuring remediation is successful.
This discussion covers the entire project lifecycle, including:
Ian is a Senior Consultant in Greencap’s Adelaide office. He has over 15 years’ experience as an Indoor Environmental Professional in Australia and the UK with a current focus on flood impact/water damage and microbial contamination. Ian has conducted hundreds of investigations within residential, commercial and industrial buildings throughout Australia and the UK.
Many of those investigations focused on contaminants such as mould, bacteria, airborne fibres and particulate matter, and he has developed remediation strategies for minimising the risk associated with these contaminants including specifying building materials rectification and cleaning works.
Ian is certified by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) for Water Damage Restoration and Applied Microbial Remediation and is a member of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH).
Cedric has worked in the fields of indoor air quality, hygiene investigation, risk assessment and management. With over 20 year’s industry experience in building investigations, air quality analysis and report writing Cedric has undertaken many hundreds of investigations, many related to compliance and post remediation validation. Cedric has worked both as a lecturer and senior consultant in the field of environmental, air quality and contaminant management. Cedric is a well credentialed researcher with more than 60 publications many focused on building investigations.
