USA: OSHA Announces $10.5 million in Training Grants

OSHA has announced that $10.5 million in training grants will become available for non-profit organizations looking to improve their workplace health and safety.

The three Susan Harwood Training Grants will support the creation of in-person, hands-on training and educational programs including the development of materials for workers and employers in small businesses. They are:

• Targeted Topic Training Grants
• Training and Educational Materials Development Grants
• Capacity Building Grants.

The program will focus on industries with high injury, illness, and fatality rates; and vulnerable workers, who are underserved, have limited English proficiency or are temporary workers. The grants will fund training and education for workers and employers to help them identify and prevent workplace safety and health hazards.

Eligible organizations include community and faith-based organizations, employer associations, labor unions, joint labor/management associations, Indian tribes, and colleges and universities.
