NOPSEMA has developed an information paper on Human Factors – Risk Migration to provide insight on the benefit of understanding of how people balance competing goals and how that can be used to guide decisions that maintain rather than erode safety.
The information paper uses a case study as an example of an arguably successful operational adaptation that could have preceded a major accident event. A systems theory framework is used to provide possible explanations for the problem-solving decisions that were made in the case study.
NOPSEMA invites industry to provide comment on the information paper by no later than COB 26 February.
NOPSEMA will consider all feedback provided during the public comment period and, where necessary, contact stakeholders for further clarification. All personal information will be managed in accordance with NOPSEMA’s Privacy Policy.
