The Australian Institute of Health & Safety invites you to join us for the NT Health & Safety Symposium taking place on Wednesday 27 September 2023.
The symposium’s topics have been separated into four sections to highlights the complexities and changes that work health and safety practitioners and professionals currently face. You will be provided with practical examples, tools, and tactics that can be immediately implements within your workplace.
The symposium addresses the various aspects of managing a workplace incident with an emphasis on psychosocial injuries. The speakers are all NT-based and highlights the technical skills of these professionals.
Our forum is designed for participation and engagement. Please join your fellow Territorian’s, share your perspective, enhance yourself and progress the territory’s safety and health capacity.

Peggy Cheong, Executive Director, NT WorkSafe
Peggy Cheong is the Executive Director of NT WorkSafe and is responsible for the regulation and administration of work health and safety, dangerous goods, electrical safety, and workers’ compensation and rehabilitation laws in the Northern Territory.
Peggy is an experienced litigation lawyer and accredited mediator, with nearly 30 years of substantial experience mostly in the areas of regulatory compliance, work health and safety, workers’ compensation, and employment law. She has held various roles within the Northern Territory legal sector, including as a long-time member and current president of the Council of the Law Society of the Northern Territory, a board member of the Darwin Community Legal Services Inc., and a volunteer at the Top End Women’s Legal Service. Prior to joining NT WorkSafe, she was the Deputy Chair of the NT Workers’ Rehabilitation and Compensation Advisory Committee.
Peggy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Queensland. With her extensive experience and strong community focus, Peggy is pivotal in guiding the work health and safety systems in the Northern Territory.
Hoi Sang Keung, Workfocus
Hoi Sang Keung is a Rehabilitation Consultant in the Northern Territory with a background in Exercise Physiology, having completed his Master of Exercise Physiology at La Trobe University in 2019. Originally from Hong Kong, Hoi is fluent three languages; Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Upon moving to Darwin in 2021, Hoi worked for 1 year as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist in conducting clinical assessments and exercise rehabilitation for people with various conditions. Hoi enjoys working with clients to identify barriers to their recovery and collaboratively develop a return-to-work plan which gradually facilitates their Functional Capacity. Hoi has experience working with clients who have sustained complex physical injuries and has a strong evidence based approach to treatment recommendations for all her clients. Recently, Hoi has been travelling across the Northern Territory to various NT Correction sites to assess multiple roles and their requirements to develop job dictionary guides to assist in a streamlined recovery and return to work process.
